Sheffield Wed v Coventry 01-04-08

brian_laws.jpgOwls To Send Coventry To Coventry?
Okay. Those crafty Coventry cretins saw off my plucky Plymouth on Saturday (Plymouth manager taking full responsibility as he decided to change his in-form team about for some reason - curse you Luggy!) but let's see how they deal with a rock hard Sheffield Wednesday who will be looking to move out of the relegation zone and level on points with tomorrow night's visitors (with a game in hand).

Only West Brom have managed a win over Wednesday in the last 9 games and by all accounts they're battling hard and playing well. Their points tally may even have been better with a little luck. Playoff chasing Crystal Palace snatched an injury time equaliser a couple of weeks ago and the Sheffield manager had this to say after the game which I find rather encouraging:

"We didn't look like a struggling side. We just needed to finish Palace off.
"But if we perform like that and show the desire we'll win a lot of games. We're playing with a lot of confidence and we kept our run going.
"We have got the mental attitude and toughness to cope."

High five, Brian! They aint going down without a fight damn you. Damn you to Coventry!

Next up was another home draw, this time against 2nd top Stoke. Honestly, why would Coventry be the team to break this great run? A confidence boosting win against Plymouth? Hmmm. These two sides met on 15th March in Coventry incidentally with Sheffield Wednesday coming away with a hard earned point in a 0-0 draw. The official Owls site reports it wasn't a pretty game as you'd probably expect from two sides battling down the bottom of the table but Sheffield contained them and are more than capable of going one better with home advantage tomorrow. For me, it has to be:

Owls team news
Richard Hinds limped off in the first half against Stoke on Saturday following a strong tackle by Shola Ameobi and is a doubt for Tuesday night. The defender will take a late fitness test ahead of the game. Steve Watson made his return from injury replacing Hinds and could start against Coventry.

Elsewhere, striker Marcus Tudgay is set to miss the remaining seven games of the season having undergone knee surgery for a cartilage problem.

Loanee forward Enoch Showunmi has returned to parent club Bristol City.

Coventry team news
Boss Chris Coleman has no fresh injury or suspension concerns ahead of the Owls game. The Sky Blues boosted their hopes of survival with a surprise 3-1 win over Plymouth on Saturday and Coleman will select from the same squad that overcame the Pilgrims.

Ex-Owls loanee Leon Best sits out the second game of a two-match ban for picking up ten yellow cards during the season so far.
